Procurement play a key role in enabling Primark to deliver "Amazing Fashion at Amazing Prices" whilst supporting a significant store expansion programme and business transformation.

Our team partners with the business to develop strategies to create competitive advantage for the business, with a focus on value creation, innovation and risk management.

The Primark supply chain is predominantly based in Islip, Northamptonshire which forms part of a network of 10 distribution centres globally.

Goods are mostly imported from the Far East India, China and Bangladesh into the EU and the US, for distribution across c400 stores in 14 countries internationally

Primark has an aggressive expansion plan throughout Europe and the US, which is enabled by the Depot Investment Programme (DIP).

DIP is a programme within the Supply Chain to support Primark's growth plans by increasing the number of depots required globally.

The Procurement Business Partner - Depot Investment Programme is a senior role partnering with our Procurement function, working across, warehousing and logistics to lead the procurement activity for DIP.

The DIP budget is over £1b spend and includes significant warehouse automation capital investment.

This role will also play an active role across new markets in the USA and the expansion across Eastern Europe.

The role is accountable to develop and execute effective strategies for key categories such as 3PLs, automated warehousing providers, supply chain services e.g.

re-processing MHE, offsite storage companies, packaging and consumables and DIP related procurement activity.

Supply chain is a critical category for Primark and our 3PLs represent Primark's highest spend suppliers across its GNFR supply chain.

Supply Chain

  • Develop Category plans across Warehousing and Warehouse Automation categories to support the procurement activity in relation to DIP
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders through business partnering, ensuring business alignment on business strategies critical objectives
  • Become the key Procurement Business Partner to represent all DIP procurement activity, working with other Procurement team members where necessary
  • Identify opportunities for costs savings across DIP and work with the internal customers to get buyin to deliver and regularly report against them.
  • Provide market intelligence and market sourcing research for internal customers with
recommendations on local versus global sourcing opportunities.

  • Embed and critically appraise Supplier Relationship Management strategy for the category
  • Develop and lead a team of Supply Chain Procurement professionals to deliver the Supply Chain strategy
  • Anticipate the future growth plans of the business and ensure that the category plans are setup to enable this to be done effectively and support the DIP strategy
  • Work with New Markets Partners and ensure category plans consider store roll expansion programme as Primark enter new countries, from market research, to new supplier identification negotiation and contract implementation.

Compliance and Governance

  • Negotiate contracts with new and existing suppliers, ensuring contract terms achieve benefit to the organisation and govern the longterm relationships
  • Ensure Primark's environmental and sustainability agenda is at the heart of all Supply Chain Procurement activity including DIP
  • Create and distribute guidance on how to procure items in the categories in scope to internal stakeholders to ensure category strategy is followed. Ensure appropriate legal frameworks and purchase orders are in place for all procurement activity
  • Identify and advise internal customers of commercial risks supply assurance issues and work to mitigate risk to protect Primark.

Contractual and Legal

  • Ensure Primark is adequately legally protected and insured when undertaking all aspects of procurement including adequately indemnifying Primark and their insurers
  • Ensure compliance to contract approval policy via legal review and appropriate use of the delegation of authority for contracts and SOW's
  • Actively champion Corporate Social Responsibility and ensure suppliers comply with the Primark Code of Practice.

Operational Effectiveness

  • Through category management, establish a robust supplier base that delivers the required quality, cost and service in compliance with Primark Ethical Trade Strategy.
  • Deploy appropriate technological solutions to ensure efficiency and best use of leverage in new methods e.g. eRFX, auctions and best in class logistics sourcing tools like Keelvar.
  • Maintain a current view of overall spends supplier data, market intelligence and best practice.
