As a global multi-disciplinary consultancy, The Aerospace, Defence, Security and Technology (ADS&T) Division within Atkins is at the leading edge of Defence support and is currently recruiting for a Senior Integrated Product Support Consultant.

Atkins offers a range of independent and unbiased advice in engineering, technical and strategic advisory services to a wide breadth of markets and clients.


We are strengthening the Integrated Product Support (IPS) consulting team within ADS&T to meet increasing market demand for Integrated Product Support services within both the Ministry of Defence (MOD) and equipment manufacturer domains.

These services include the more traditional Supportability / Technical Through Life Support services as well delivering smart solutions.

Our growing team offer a range of independent and unbiased advice in engineering, technical and strategic advisory services to a wide breadth of markets and clients.


Your Purpose:

To provide guidance and direction in the development of Integrated Product Support solutions for our clients, including:

  • Support to client managers to identify new opportunities.
  • Assurance of work undertaken by IPS team members.
  • Supporting the development of our broad capability including areas such as Digital Twin, Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence.
  • Leading others in the delivery of major Integrated Product Support assignments for clients.
  • You will be working with our clients to deliver diverse Integrated Product Support projects, covering anything from implementing innovative uses of new technology, formulating national guidance, providing strategic direction and leadership for asset management policy and using data and analysis tools to develop programmes of work.

Who are we looking for?
Integrated Product Support is wide-ranging and diverse amalgamation of skillsets.

At Atkins, we recognise that we need to grow and develop in these areas; therefore, we are looking for experienced Integrated Product Support practitioners with knowledge and experience in domains such as Defence, Aerospace, Oil and Gas or Infrastructure with a sound understanding of Defence or ASD standards such as Def Stan 00-040, 00-045, 00-600, ASD S3000L, S4000P.


What can you bring?

_ Essential -_
As a Senior Integrated Product Support Consultant, it is critical that you are a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in or have considerable experience in most of the following:

  • Experience working with DE&S / Delivery Teams.
  • Background in Supportability / Integrated Product Support (IPS) at Desk Officer / SNCO / ILS Manager level.
  • Knowledge of the Defence, Aerospace and wider markets, or major contractor's experience.
  • Sound understanding of appropriate Defence Standards or ASD Standards, such as Def Stan 00600, Knowledge in Defence (KiD), Defence Product Framework (DLF) or S3000L / S4000P etc.
  • Awareness the MOD Acquisition Process and activities.
  • Knowledge, awareness and ability to generate Supportability Cases.
  • Experience or Awareness in the compilation/maintenance of LSAR databases or LIRs.
  • Build sustainable relationships with customers and develop future business opportunities.
  • Finds smart and/or innovative solutions to business and client needs.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills commensurate with the role, including the preparation and presentation of reports to both internal and external customers.

As a Senior Integrated Product Support Consultant, it is desirable that you have good experience and knowledge of:

  • Engineering / Asset Management standards (ASD/ISO used in Industry.
  • Experience or Awareness in the compilation/maintenance of LSAR databases or LIRs.
  • How the Supply Chain relates to supportability and sustainment.
  • Exploiting Asset Information to drive better solutions.
  • Understanding of how IPS fits into Asset Management (ISO
  • Supportability Analysis, Level Of Repair Analysis and Ranging and Scaling Modelling.
  • Compiling the Support Solution Development Tool (SSDT) for the approvals process.
  • Requirement definition and development, including Supportability User & System Requirements.
  • Knowledge of domain regulatory bodies and publications, such as the Military Aviation Authority Regulatory Publications (MRP).
  • Manage and motivate project teams through strong interpersonal and leadership skills.
  • Provide technical guidance to colleagues through knowledge of best practices.
  • Be a Chartered
