About the role

The Engineering Trust is a charity with a mission to champion engineering to young people, promote engineering as a career pathway and celebrate young people in engineering.

To meet our mission, we are looking for a motivated person to deliver our STEM Summer Courses programme, our Saturday STEM Club programme and to deliver our Schools Partnership programme.

Your role will inspire the next generation, giving children fun and engaging STEM experiences and young people high quality advice and guidance.

STEM Summer Courses are high-quality programmes for 8 to 13 year olds delivered at two venues for four weeks in the summer holidays.

For one afternoon, the children go off-site to an Engineering employer like Aston Martin F1 for a tour and to meet an engineer.

Saturday STEM Clubs, also for 8-13 year olds, are new for 2023 and run every Saturday, term time only. They give children the opportunity for a weekly dose of STEM fun at our Academy in Bicester.

Our Schools Partnership programme is centred around giving students in years 7 to 13 excellent STEM careers advice and guidance, particularly in terms of Apprenticeships as a routeway post 16 and post 18.

Full training given to fulfil this aspect of the role.


Responsibilities
Coordinate and deliver all three elements of the role to excellent standards.


STEM Courses & Saturday STEM Club

• Plan, prepare and deliver engaging practical STEM sessions both as a weeklong course (STEM Summer Camps) and single session over a number of weeks (Saturday STEM Club).
• Give children a brilliant STEM experience, finding then coordinating a team of temporary staff which creates a fun, welcoming, and enabling environment.
• Manage parttime staff in terms of hours, attendance, performance, delivery of the programmes.
• Communicate relevant information related to wellbeing of children and smooth delivery of sessions to the CEO. Be the Site Designated Safeguarding Lead (SDSL) for the courses, supported by the CEO who is the organisations DSL.
• Differentiate each session to ensure all children within the group can access the activity.
• Take pastoral responsibility for children during and inbetween sessions, constantly safeguarding their welfare.
• Communicate with parents and guardians during the enquiry & booking process then each day at drop off and pick up times, plus by phone during the day or during a session if needed.
• Follow and implement all policy and procedure, making sure everything is done in a safe manner.

School Partnership

• Work with the Charity Coordinator to engage with schools to support them in their careers programmes.
• Attend schools and deliver assemblies, workshops or attend their careers fairs, giving information, advice and guidance in relation to careers in Engineering and apprenticeships.
• Develop materials and workshops to maximise engagement of students.

Requirements:

• Committed to working Saturdays during term time and 4 weeks of the summer holiday. Sunday and one other day off per week. Holiday can be taken during other school holidays or during term time.
• Experience of working with children within a STEM environment and confident in the planning and delivering practical STEM activities to children.
• Inventive and able to grow what is on offer within the courses, willing to experiment with ideas and keep the courses fun, fresh and constantly evolving.
• Professional approach to your work, confident talking to parents and carers about their children.
• Driven and enthusiastic to give children a fantastic experience.
• Able to problem solve and think on your feet.
• Confident talking to, and working with, large groups of children from 8 to 1
