Learning Support Assistant (LSA)

Contract:
Part time, 26 hours per week (0.8 FTE) Permanent, Term Time plus INSET days


Salary:
BG7 £22,777 - £24,054 (£13,997 - £14,781
pro rata)**
Start Date: 1st September 2023


Our school is a very special place to work and we are looking to recruit a suitably qualified and motivated individual to support the learning of our students who have a range of additional needs.

Our students are keen to learn and are positive about receiving support to enable them to become independent learners. This role involves the opportunity to work with pupils across the whole school.


The role of the LSA involves working with young people and children who require additional support within the classroom by creating safe and encouraging environment so they can make the most of their education.

The successful LSA would be working on a 1-1 basis or in small groups helping children with their educational, behavioural and social development or supporting pupils whose English is not a first language, have health issues or disability.


We are looking for a person who puts children and their learning at the centre of their work. We believe that building respectful relationships with children and their families is very important and that children learn best when they are happy, calm and safe.

What the role involves:


  • Working 11 with students with additional needs such as ASC, hearing impairments and/ or additional social communication needs.
  • Providing adhoc or dedicated 11 support as part of the Upgrade provision in the Post 16 Centre.
  • Note taking in all lessons.
  • Catch up and revision strategies.
  • Communication between students and teachers.
  • Possibility of liaison with external agencies.
  • Wholeclass support in lessons, work experience or additional opportunities within the school community.
  • Providing access arrangements for exams, and facilitating the practice of these as part of the students' timetable
