Position:
Information Governance Officer


Location:
Rochdale, Greater Manchester


Job Purpose:

To provide a support and assistance on Data Protection and Information Governance matters


Responsibilities:


The Information Governance Officer will have a caseload of their own and provide support to senior lawyers in the firm on aspects of their work.

The appropriate supervision will always be provided.


STRATEGIC:

  • To provide input and feedback which will support the directors in developing and shaping the firm's data protection services and products.

OPERATIONAL:

  • To manage a caseload of data protection and Freedom of Information matters with appropriate supervision.
  • To provide support to clients who have reported a data breach, including communicating remedial steps, whether the breach has crossed the notification threshold to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) and updating the client's data breach record
  • To support clients with Subject Access Requests (SARs), including drafting acknowledgement letters, providing guidance to the client on how the request should be handled in line with statutory requirements and drafting the response letter.
  • To support clients with responding to Freedom of Information requests, including drafting acknowledgement letters, providing guidance as to how to respond and drafting the response letter.
  • To deliver the firm's review and redaction service (reviewing documents to be disclosed under a SAR and removing any information which should not be disclosed).
  • To support data protection compliance work, including maintaining the client's compliance tracker tool, attending compliance meetings, taking minutes and communicating follow up actions with the client.
  • Supporting clients with carrying out data protection impact assessments.

  • To undertake training and professional development.
  • Keep a proper record of all work done.
  • To have a thorough understanding of the use of HY's IT infrastructure.

Schedule:

  • 8 hour shift
  • Monday to Friday
  • Overtime
