Job summary:


BDUK is an Executive Agency of DCMS responsible for delivering the government's ambition to deliver improved digital infrastructure across fixed and mobile broadband to the hardest-to-reach areas of the UK.


The Digital, Data & Technology Team (DDaT) works closely with BDUK and wider DCMS teams to design, build, enhance and support a portfolio of digital products and services to deliver BDUK's strategic objectives through proactive and expert utilisation of data and technology enablers.

The Digital Delivery Lead will deliver and enhance digital products in support of services that improve lives.

It is an opportunity to work with talented product, user researchers, developers, designers, architects and data specialists who share a passion and commitment for delivering BDUK's strategic objectives.

Job description:


  • Accountability for the effective delivery of complex, high risk technical products and services
  • Leading and motivating multiple multidisciplinary teams, helping them organise and plan their work, ensuring they deliver products and services that align to business requirements and expected value
  • Managing the scope and timescales of projects, facilitating day to day agile ceremonies, working closely with business product owners and technical teams
  • Working with senior management and suppliers to identify the people, skills and resources needed to deliver agreed goals
  • Providing data to help report on the programme to the portfolio and senior management team
  • Engaging and supporting other BDUK functions to ensure the consistent deployment of processes, tools and technology essential for effective service delivery and development
  • Managing budgets, challenging costs & interpreting commercial data
  • Coordinating with your team to alleviate backlogs and implement changing requirements
  • Preparing for new or changed services with full oversight of the change process and the maintenance of regulatory, legal and professional standards as well as managing the performance of existing systems and services
  • Analysing and coordinating relationships with key internal & external stakeholders to ensure the successful deliver of technology products & services
  • Ensuring the quality of delivered products following each sprint

Person specification:


Essential

  • Experience of product or project management within multidisciplinary virtual teams including 3rd party suppliers
  • Good knowledge of project management frameworks and governance approaches
  • Proven leadership experience and the ability to motivate and lead a multidisciplinary, virtual team
  • The ability to provide accurate estimations for work on large, complex projects together with the ability to solve problems, manage risks and issues across complex scenarios
  • Understanding of commercial, financial and legislative requirements of projects
  • Strong level of planning and organising skills with good experience of supporting tools (Confluence, Jira, Excel, Powerpoint, Project etc.);
  • A strong team player who will share knowledge, mentor and develop other members of their team;
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Championing diversity and inclusion as well as experience of creating diverse and inclusive teams that are motivated and inspired to work together to achieve a common objective

Desirable

  • Product Manager and/or Business Analyst experience
  • Understanding of Database fundamentals or Data Analysis
  • Working knowledge of Jira, Trello or Smartsheets
