Greenkeeper - Grade 3


Reports To:

Location:
Greenkeeping Sheds


Hours:1,950 hours per annum


Overview:


To carry out ground maintenance duties, as directed, ensuring that the course is at all times presented in the best possible condition.


Key duties of this role include, but are not limited to:

  • Cutting all playing surfaces, set up golf course, raking bunkers, etc; as directed
  • Construction, aeration and turfing work/duties, as directed.
  • Maintain high standards of customer care at all times.
  • Understand the company policy on Health and Safety and to ensure that all duties performed are carried out with full regard to the safety of customers, visitors, contractors and other employees; work within the Health & Safety, COSHH, Risk Assessment and HAVS Assessment guidelines at all times.
  • Ensure the efficient and effective operation and safe handling of all chemicals following Trust policy and procedure.
  • To operate grass cutting machinery safely and effectively; care and maintenance of machinery and the reporting of loss or damage to line manager according to Trust policy and procedure.
  • Any other duties that may be required.

Essential Competencies and Qualifications:

- (Sports Turf) Level 2 Cert or equivalent

  • Spraying PA written work


  • Spraying PA2a Tractor

  • Boom Sprayer
  • Spraying PA6 Knapsack
  • Minimum of English and Mathematics standard grade
  • Driving licence

Essential Skills and Behaviours:

Experience in...

  • A range of turf maintenance machinery
  • Hole maintenance including inspection, repair and trimming
  • Know when, how and why to maintain tee, green, fairway and rough areas
  • Weeds, pests and disease control and maintenance planning
  • Identification of turf types, diseases, pests and turf disorders
  • Knowledge and use of the rules of golf relating to golf course maintenance
  • Changing of hole locations/ General course setup
  • Preparing, establish and maintain grass swards
  • Knowledge of fertilisers, top dressing and chemicals
  • Operations of fertilisers, top dressing and chemicals
  • Coordinating the control of pests, diseases and disorders
  • Tractor qualification
  • Surveying and reporting on the condition of the environment
  • Communicating information and knowledge
  • Taking measurements with pogo and cleg hammer
  • Measuring green speed and interpreting the results
  • Unsupervised renovation and repair works
