Cyfle Cymru is a Peer Mentoring project which helps people develop confidence to make positive life changes, and provides support to access training, education, volunteering and employment.

Our peer mentors draw on their own lived experience to support people affected by substance misuse and/or mental health conditions.

Cyfle Cymru will support people aged 16 to 24 (Not in education, employment or training) and those 25+ that are economically inactive or long term unemployed.


Job Purpose:


  • Identify work placements and suitable sustainable employment opportunities for participants while actively promoting the service to a wide range of stakeholders
  • Liaising with employers to source suitable vacancies and opportunities as well as providing inwork support
  • Match suitable opportunities to participants
  • Identify and establish contacts with local employers through innovative outreach and marketing activities to promote the programme, its service and the benefits of recruiting our participants
  • Plan and deliver annual employer focussed events
  • To act as a point of contact for the peer mentoring service with employers
  • Provide support to the employer including professional advice and support, communication and presentations regarding the participant of Cyfle Cymru
  • Provide a flexible, highquality service, working in partnership with the Peer Mentors

Responsibilities:


  • To ensure all project outcomes are delivered on target.
  • Use of various sales and marketing skills to recruit employers, identify suitable opportunities to which participants can be matched.
  • Work closely with the Peer Mentors and communicate effectively in order to ensure work placements, traineeships, apprenticeship and other employability opportunities are filled.
  • Liaise with both the employer and participants during the six month postemployment to ensure that outcomes are sustained
  • To be involved in dealing with enquiries to the service from employers
  • To work with the Peer Mentors and trainer to provide training to the employer around Mental Health and/or Substance misuse
  • Gather information from the employer around the interview process, job entry and sustainable employment
  • Work with the Peer Mentors to gain opportunities for participants to have a positive outcome
  • Record all activities in compliance with both organisational and Welsh Government regulations. This would include client sessions records, timesheets and any other outcome monitoring required of the Scheme.
  • You have responsibilities to promote high level of customer care within own area of responsibilities.
  • To have a some understanding of the difficulties that our client group face, be able to work with the Peer Mentor to implement appropriate measures of support while in employment
  • The ability to prioritise and organise own workload
  • To be accountable for own decisions and actions in consultation with supervision.
  • To carry out other tasks and responsibilities of a similar nature to those listed above as determined from time to time by the project manager in relations to the smooth running of the project.
