This post forms part of the councils Housing Enforcement Team.
Telford and Wrekin Council is seeking a Compliance Officer to join their team in Telford, England. The successful candidate will be responsible for investigating housing complaints and undertaking enforcement action under the Housing Act 2004. They will also assess and license HMOs (Houses in Multiple Occupation) and conduct inspections to identify disrepair and housing hazards.
The ideal candidate will have a relevant qualification in housing and a solid understanding of housing legislation, guidance, and the Housing Health and Safety Rating System (HHSRS). Strong communication skills are essential as well as experience with service of notices, civil penalties, and enforcement.
The role plays a vital part in supporting some of the most vulnerable members of our community ensuring that they have access to safe and healthy housing in line with our newly adopted Housing Strategy.
Key responsibilities include assessing licensing applications for Houses Multi-Occupation(HMO), conducting site visits on existing licensed premises identifying breaches or non-compliances,
, investigating reports relating to private sector properties who may be causing anti-social behaviour,
