Description
Centre Support Worker - Homeless Support Centre

The Open Door Support Centre provides a safe space where our homeless community feel valued and supported. We aim to understand individuals' needs and reduce barriers to homelessness.

We are now seeking to appoint an experienced Centre Support Worker with responsibility for managing volunteers, within a small professional team in Taunton.

This role involves taking the lead on the recruitment, induction, and management of Open Door volunteers, administration and record keeping including organisation of the volunteer rota and ensuring the Centre can be opened on time with adequate volunteer cover.

Other responsibilities include providing practical support for clients, monitoring their wellbeing, identifying their needs, and liaising with multi-agencies to ensure the best outcomes are achieved for individuals.

We often first meet clients in our busy day centre in distressing and challenging situations. This means that, above everything, the Support Worker needs to be non-judgemental, resilient, and able to work under pressure.

It is vital that the centre remains a positive, welcoming environment, which requires the Support Worker themselves to have a positive outlook on life and to be able to make a positive contribution to the staff and volunteer team.
