Purpose of Role
We are looking for an experienced Client Bookkeeper/Accounts Senior to further develop their skills in a well
- established and ambitious practice assisting our busy professional team with delivering our full range of services to our diverse client base.
Reporting Lines
This position reports into our Client Director based in the Chelmsford Office
Main Responsibilities
This list is not intended to be exhaustive nor is the order of listing to be taken as an indication of importance
Bookkeeping
Complete client bookkeeping from source documents using Xero and some other software.
Xero user who can assist the team with queries together with clients as and when required
Analyse and reconcile VAT returns, preparation of VAT returns
Understanding of accruals and prepayments
Assist with the preparation of year end accounts in relation to reconciling all control accounts on bookkeeping software.
Prepare or check fixed asset registers
Effectively manage time to ensure that jobs are finished within budget
Assist with production of management accounts monthly and quarterly for reporting and projection purposes
Complete any other duties as requested including dealing with general client queries
Accounts
Preparation and completion of statutory accounts, year-end accounts and rental accounts for limited companies, sole traders and partnerships
Dealing with a varied client portfolio (T/O up to £4million) including OMBs, Haulage, property investors, property developers, agricultural and entertainment etc.
Provide task support to fellow team members, sharing knowledge and providing guidance
Liaising with internal and/or third party external outsourcing
Finalising accounts under the overall control of the Director
Complete company secretarial work
Organise your flow of work, allocating your assignments and managing your time as necessary taking into consideration your client deadlines and other constraints
Ensure work is completed within agreed time and budget
Liaise with third parties as required (HMRC, mortgage brokers, other members of your team, payroll bureau, etc)
Develop and maintain effective client relationships, including attending client premises as required and client meetings
Dealing with general incoming client queries and escalating when required
Identify cross selling opportunities
Keeping up to date technically
**Skills, Experience and Attributes required:
- **AAT, ACA,ACCA qualified, qualified by experience
At least 5 years of experience gained in a practice setting
Up to date statutory accounts knowledge and sound accounting, corporate/personal tax and VAT technical knowledge is required
Experience of preparing management accounts (to include forecasting and budgeting)
Must possess a client focused attitude and have proven experience of building and maintaining relationships with clients
Experience of working with a variety of clients. Portfolio will include property investors, property developers, haulage, entertainment and agricultural clients, so experience within these areas would prove an advantage but this is not essential
Acute sense of fine detail and the ability to analyse and solve more complex accounting queries
Excellent IT skills, including Microsoft Word and Excel, Xero, SAGE, IRIS, Quickbooks and FreeAgent
Ability to work to tight deadlines and flexible in approach
Communication - oral and written, ability to deal with variety of people in different environments
Problem solving skills
Ability to work well under pressure
Accuracy, deadline focused and the ability to work on their own initiative is crucial

Self-motivated
Organised - ability to deal with a variety of tasks and a varied workload
Commercially aware
Be positive and committed to THP in dealings with both clients and team members
Salary:
£28,000.00-£35,000.00 per year
