Description

The Kavli Centre for Ethics, Science, and the Public in the Faculty of Education at the University of Cambridge wishes to appoint a full-time Engagement Associate to help us amplify our core belief that 'Science is everywhere, and science is for everyone'.

As our Engagement Associate, you will research and design a range of ways to expand and enrich the conversation between science and diverse publics on some of the most cutting-edge and potentially controversial issues of our time.

The remit of the role includes looking far beyond what is 'usually' done in this area to design projects that are genuinely innovative, imaginative, and impactful.

In addition, you will be responsible for the day-today public profile of the centre, including designing and writing all social media and website outputs, and managing and developing relationships with our public, creative, scientific, and academic networks.

You will have a strong sense of social justice and will want your working life to make a difference in the 'real world'.

You will be working closely with colleagues in public engagement and the social sciences based at the Kavli Centre, the University of Cambridge, and at Wellcome Connecting Science, as well as directly with a diverse range of publics, creative practitioners, and career scientists as we bring these projects to fruition and continue to refine our thinking together.

For full details of the duties and responsibilities of the post, criteria for appointment and the person specification, please see the further particulars.

Fixed-term: The funds for this post are available for 3 years in the first instance.

Interviews are planned for 28 and 29 March.
