We are a small, supportive, friendly team working across Hampshire and the Isle of Wight, with a passion for using evidence-based approaches to improve population health and wellbeing through positive behaviour change.

Your proven track record of contributing to Public Health outcomes will enable you to support and develop innovative interventions to implement our emerging Public Health Strategy, including using commissioning of integrated sexual and reproductive health services to improve population outcomes and reduce health inequalities, supporting the development of Women's Health Hubs to improve access to long-acting reversible contraception, and working towards our ambitions for Zero HIV by 2030.

You will commission services and perform quality reviews to ensure an excellent standard of service provision to the public.

You will also be required to matrix work across the Public Health team enabling you to benefit from the opportunity to work in other Public Health portfolio areas including NHS Health Checks in Primary Care and working with primary care colleagues to build robust pathways for prevention.

Your knowledge of public health concepts and your ability to use evidence-based research methods to gather, interpret and present complex data in a meaningful way will be key.

Your excellent communication skills and experience of multiagency working will help us to build on our strong working relations with our partners.

Applicants for the Senior Public Health Practitioner role will have a postgraduate level qualification in either Public Health or a related discipline (for example a UK Master's degree or postgraduate diploma), and extensive experience in a Public Health Practitioner role (or similar).

You'll have a good understanding and preferably experience of sexual and reproductive health and/or NHS Health Checks.

At the Isle of Wight Council, we are committed to creating opportunity and invest in our workforce.
