Careers Consultant (LSE Law School)

Salary starting from £50,606 to £58,505 annually inclusive with potential to increase to £65,157 annually inclusive of London allowance

This role is a fixed term position for 3 years

The LSE Law School is globally acclaimed for its exceptional legal research and education.


Collaborating closely, we are looking to hire a skilled and motivated Career Consultant committed to offering career development guidance to Law School students.

This is a new role, the individual will be officially situated within LSE Careers but tasked with advising Law School students (both undergraduate and postgraduate) and alumni, as well as engaging with employers.

The Careers Consultant will serve as a valuable source of advice and knowledge for students and alumni regarding pathways into a legal career and the recruitment practices of top legal firms, in-house legal departments, and other relevant professions.

There will be a specific focus on career support, external interactions, and enhancing the student journey.

The individual will develop, implement, and consistently enhance a career development program for Law School students and alumni. This will encompass one-on-one and group conversations, guidance, and practice sessions.

Collaborating across the Law School to promote the program and identify any learning or development requirements, the individual will gather and analyze data to comprehend the career development needs and interests of students and alumni.

The individual will engage in outreach to prospective students and establish broad networks within LSE and the industry as a whole, in order to cultivate professional relationships and utilize them for the benefit of the Law School's career program.


  • A degree or equivalent level of education
  • Either previous experience in delivering high-quality career advice or relevant professional experience in the legal sector within a suitable legal organization to provide personalized advice and insights to Law School students and alumni and support them in their career paths
  • A strong grasp of legal sector employment, job market trends, and professional routes for law graduates
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication abilities with the capability to tailor communications for different audiences and scenarios, understanding individuals and situations encountered
  • Experience in creating and conducting workshops or other presentations, proficiency in using career development tools and databases, and readiness to leverage an expanding professional network for the benefit of students' career guidance.
