This post is required to work flexibly within 37 hours, in order to deliver a reactive and rapid response service to cover absences and cleaning incidents across Lancashire.


The job holder will undertake specialist cleaning, work in accordance with the terms of bespoke contracts such as emergency / infection cleaning across police sites to agreed specifications, as directed by line management.

They will assist in the effective and efficient management and the operations of the service within the designated service areas to ensure that service standards are met.


Key Accountabilities

  • Provide cover for cleaning in Lancashire Constabulary buildings, Care Homes, and County Council properties
  • Provide Bio Hazard cleaning at Police sites
  • Use powered equipment in the course of their duties such as floor buffer.
  • Undertake necessary training, including the correct cleaning procedures and use of cleaning equipment.
  • Liaise with line manager reporting any information or occurrences relevant to the provision of the service.
  • Maintain all equipment used in a clean, tidy and safe condition.
  • To use specialist cleaning equipment for surfaces that require various cleaning methods.
  • Key holding duties.
  • Deliver a cleaning service in line with regulations ensuring adherence to the use of correct chemicals and equipment and undertaking training for any specialist equipment used or surfaces that require various cleaning methods.
  • To ensure safe methods of working and taking responsibility for health and safety of yourselves and building users when on duty and for those that have key holding duties.
  • Whilst in the main the duties will be between normal working hours, the specialist cleaning service is a 24 hours 7 days a week service, therefore there is a requirement to provide an element of 'oncall' / standby duties, this is evenly shared between the team. An oncall standby allowance and any additional working hours are paid over and above the stipulated salary. During the interview the oncall duties will be explained in more detail.


You will be required to provide a car for use in connection with the duties of this post and must be insured for business use.
