Spinwell is recruiting for a Communications Officer for an excellent opportunity within the public sector.
RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE COMMUNICATIONS OFFICER
The purpose of the role is to take lead officer responsibility for the research, design and implementation of engagement, marketing and public relations initiatives and campaigns.
The main responsibilities of the role are:
- To identify internal and external opportunities to generate positive publicity for Force operations, performance and initiatives via the media, the website and other traditional and new technology mechanisms.
- Produce corporate literature / direct marketing / PR products aimed at the public, other stakeholders and partners to help reduce the fear of crime, increase accessibility to and understanding of policing services.
- Assist (for example, by storyboarding and scripting) in the production of digital media products.
- Support the Force annual Events Management Strategy to enhance public engagement with and support for the police.
- Generate positive relations with the Force's key partners, external stakeholders and employees through initiative, creative thinking and by implementing the Stakeholder Management Strategy.
- Advice and influence colleagues and partners on the best communications approach for planned issues including attending project management meetings. A focus should be given to achieving awareness, understanding engagement and behavioural change.
- Use professional knowledge and experience to proactively, confidently and quickly suggest the best communications approach for planned issues with longterm consequences in often challenging environments.
- Attend and provide advice at internal and external meetings in the postholders portfolio area, facilitating media requests and enquiries for projects in the postholders portfolio and encouraging and incorporating public feedback.
- Support and monitor local social media accounts, making best use of the channels to inform and connect with communities.
- Carry out and evaluate effective and timely internal and external communication activities across the three counties.
SKILLS/EXPERIENCE OF THE COMMUNICATIONS OFFICER
- Education to graduate level
- Professional qualification in communications (CIPR, CIM)
- Proven track record of implementing PR and marketing strategies
- Ability to identify, map and manage a large number of stakeholder simultaneously
- Proven experience of managing multiagency issuespecific communication and engagement strategies
- Proven research and evaluation skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Demonstrably excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Proven organisational skills
