An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic individual to become a part of the Patient Transport department here at The Christie.


The Christie NHS Foundation Trust, based in Withington, Manchester is one of the leading cancer centers in Europe, offering high quality diagnosis, treatment and care as well as being at the forefront of cancer research and education.

To be successful, you will need to show you fulfil the essential criteria on the person specification

Co-ordinate the booking of transport to and from The Christie for patients and non-patient activity

Follow all relevant policy and legislation in relation to Transport

Work collaboratively with trust colleagues to ensure policies are adhered to.

Plan and organise workloads.

Maintain an electronic database of all journeys undertaken.

Understand the fragility and value of medical devices e.g., scopes and conveys this to drivers so as to ensure the safe transportation of such equipment

Constantly review planned journeys to optimise routes.

Demonstrate good geographical knowledge for best cost efficiency

Adhere to all Trust Policies in relation to Transport.

Provide advice and guidance to patients in relation to their transport bookings.

Prioritise workload to meet patients' needs

Be the first point of contact for administration decisions on patient transport bookings.

Coordinate patient satisfaction surveys.

Provide assistance to others when problems delays occur. Putting the patient first and ensuring they arrive at their destination in a safe and timely manner

Communicate sensitive information in a diplomatic manner with departments both internally and externally.

Communicate with patients who maybe anxious, angry or upset, taking personal action to resolve patient issues concerns or complaints.

The Christie is one of Europe's leading cancer centres, treating over 60,000 patients a year.

We are based in Manchester and serve a population of 3.2 million across Greater Manchester & Cheshire, but as a national specialist around 15% patients are referred to us from other parts of the country.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Adhere to all Trust Policies in relation to Transport.

Provide advice and guidance to patients in relation to their transport bookings.

Prioritise workload to meet patients' needs

Be the first point of contact for administration decisions on patient transport bookings.

Communicate with patients who maybe anxious, angry or upset, taking personal action to resolve patient issues concerns or complaints.

Assess situations escalate to management as appropriate

Use own initiative to liaise with clinical staff regarding patient queries and the delivery of drugs, clinic bags etc.


Coordinate and facilitate complicated discharges for patient transfers home or to other NHS sites seeking Line Managers advice where appropriate.

Cooperate with colleagues to achieve the most effective operation for daily workloads

Promote and deliver a high standard of practice to achieve and maintain individual and team targets.

Prepare a daily report of departmental activity including any breaches to Service Level Agreements

Assist in the training of new staff.
