The NDM Finance Shared Service Centre has an exciting opportunity for a Finance Officer (PO) to join the dedicated team at the Nuffield Department of Medicine.

Processing transactional finance for 14 units within NDM, you will deliver high levels of service and customer support to stakeholders, while fostering a "right first time" culture.

You will be responsible for ensuring all financial transactions are carried out in accordance with the University and external financial regulations, contributing to improvement of processes by ensuring SOPs are up to date and adhered to.

You will process purchase orders and requisitions in the Oracle Financial system as necessary, and review incomplete requisitions and ensure they are processed promptly.

You will review requests for Oracle Shopper access, and support units with the hierarchical structure set up of any new departments.

Liaising with end users, Grants and Finance teams is a core part of the role, along with maintaining good working relationships with key suppliers and stakeholders.


It is essential that you are educated to at least GCSE standard or equivalent (grades C / 4), with evidence of numerical ability, and have suitable experience of working in a relevant financial administration role, including experience of working with computerised financial systems.

You will be competent using computerised financial systems and Microsoft Packages, in particular Excel, and you will have excellent time management and demonstrable ability to prioritise and manage a diverse workload to meet deadlines.

It is essential you can produce a consistently high standard of work, with particular evidence of ability to work accurately with attention to detail.

Understanding or experience of University's Oracle financial system is not essential, but would be beneficial for this role.


This position is offered full time on a fixed term contract for 3 years and is funded by the Department.
