Established US law firm is looking to hire a newPractice Group Manager for their
Corporate & Securities practices.
This role is a brilliant opportunity for someone with Practice Group Management (PGM) experience to join a leading law firm who are ahead of the game in terms of PGM or someone who is undertaking similar dutiesand wanting to branch in to a specific PGM role.
This role is
hybrid working, with standard hours of 9:30am to 5:30pm with flexibility asked for and
a salary to £90,000.
Practice Group Manager duties will include:
- Assist with the development and implementation of practice group strategic initiatives as well as daily operations
- Develop relationships with Partners, Counsel, Associates, and Paralegals to foster trust and confidence in the function and role of manager
- Identify and resolve issues that impact associate morale
- Understand the needs of lawyers in the group and ensure that they have the resources necessary to get the job done by communicating with office managers, IT, and other departments
- Provide a seamless quality service to fee earners and other professionals
- Monitor hiring needs and liaise with the Human Resources or Legal Recruiting departments
- Liaise with Human Resources in regard to joiners/transfers/leavers within the practice
- Assist with staffing and workload management process for associates, counsel, and paralegals
- Coordinate and administer the associate, counsel, and paralegal evaluation process
- Schedule and prepare for group orientations, training programs, retreats, meetings, and special events
- Liaise with the Talent department on retention and training programs
- Coordinate partnership promotion process, including preparation of sponsorship memos and related material
- Liaise with marketing personnel on matters relating to marketing and client development for the practice group
- Assist with quarterly, monthly, weekly, and ad hoc reports
- Analyse and monitor practice group financial performance
- Monitor paralegal, associate, and counsel hours
- Monitor monthly unbilled time and outstanding A/R, performing analysis and problem recognition and work with the Director and Finance to resolve any issues
Practice Group Manager Key skills will include:
- Knowledge of management concepts, a strategic focus and the ability to drive action
- Ability to build relationships and establish trust with key stakeholders at all levels within the Firm
- Strong numeric literacy and the ability to work with and analyse financial data
- Excellent IT skills particularly with the full suite of Office products
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential management issues and information with discretion
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to foster excellent working relationships at all levels
- Polished written and oral communication skills
- Desire to constantly learn new skills and the ability to adapt to the needs of the business
- Highly organised and proactive with the ability to prioritise work in a pressured environment
Practice Group Manager Education and Experience:
- University degree or equivalent experience desirable
- At least four years' experience in a comparable or similar role
- Indepth knowledge of the legal/professional services environment
