Here at Babington we pride ourselves on delivering robust training programmes across a variety of professional sectors nationally and we are looking for a Senior Bid Writer who is determined to maximise tenders to obtain tangible results and share your expertise and knowledge with a Bids Coordinator.


Summary of Role
The Senior Bid and Proposal Writer is the leader for all bid writing within Babington.

Their prime responsibility is to lead on major bid submissions - with a clear focus on compiling and writing effective bids and proposals to secure future business for Babington.

This is primarily a role focussed on writing and creating bid-content (which can include diagrams and visual content), and evolving previous bid submissions and content to support effective future bids.


The Senior Bid and Proposal Writer will also have a prime role in liaising with internal stakeholders and other members of the sales team to empower them to create and contribute content as needed - and being the figurehead to support and promote bid submission excellence across Babington.


Brief summary of principle accountabilities

  • Ownership of Bid Writing across all sectors, divisions and regions of the business this can range from large scale funding bids; to specific client tenders and presentations.
  • Prime focus on leading the writing significant funding bids the ability to own and write compelling bids to secure potential multimillion pound contracts in the employment, training and talent development marketplace.
  • Project manage contributions from a variety of stakeholders in the business such as Commercial, Marketing, People & Talent, Finance and Operational Leads throughout bid process ability to link together and form compelling, winning bids.
  • Work with various internal teams to understand customer requirements and support as appropriate ensure communications to key stakeholders are accurate and give clear brief to wite bid content.
  • Understanding our products and services and competitive landscape ensuring the solution and value adds are articulated in the written proposals; ensuring that what is represented in bids is relevant, accurate and up to date with Babington's capability and product offering.
  • To work with key stakeholders to develop strategies for responding to client win themes and for identifying clear differentiators and USP's.


  • Alongside the Bid-Coordinator

  • To develop a bid plan and identify necessary requirements for input form stakeholders.
  • Thinking creatively and analytically to produce winning bids influencing others internally to thing creatively to meet bid requirements.
  • Challenge the norm through positive ideas and writing creativity to improve productivity.
  • Clear focus on Bid scoring and procurement needs ensuring that bids clearly answer the questions; and focus on securing maximum marks according to scoring criteria.
  • Working with other sales people, sales leaders and client facing teams to support improving bid capability and empowering others with techniques to write compelling content.
  • Developing and maintaining excellent insight into market developments and opportunities, through a variety of traditional and digital channels.
  • Manage the full bid and proposal cycle owning the master copies of bids, and working with all contributors to create powerful and coherent bid submissions.

Qualifications

  • Grade A-C GCSE in English and maths or equivalent

  • English Literature degree qualified or equivalent

Skills and experience

  • Extensive experience in working on complex bids in the public and private sector
    (E):
  • Experience and excellent track record of winning business through bid and proposal writing and management
    (E):
  • Experience of being selfcritical, with a view to always improve solutions and processes
    (E):
  • Experience of being creative
  • Ability to articulate bid requirements to bid teams and establish win themes
    (E):
  • Experience of writing bids and tenders with exceptional written English skills
    (E):
  • Experience and proven ability of being able to multitask and work on several bids simultaneously
    (E):
  • Ability to actively coach others through times of change, demonstrating positive acceptance and explaining how the change is beneficial to reshape negative thinking
