Job Purpose This is a workshop-based role (some occasional short periods of UK/overseas travel may be required) for a workshop Mechanical Fitter/Engineer (MF).

Requiring autonomous working at times and an understanding of the workings of a mechanical buildworkshop.

Responsible to the Manager for completing all allocated tasking safely, mechanical build projects of compressors, and similar plant machinery within allocated timescales and to the required quality standard.

It requires the post holder to co-ordinateall allocated resources and consult effectively with internal co-workers.

The MF is to constantly seek, to improve their skill of hand and mechanical knowledge by learning from the Manager and Senior Commissioning Engineers (SCEs).

Responsibilities:

Mechanical fitting and equipment build, i.e., compressors and plant machinery
Safe operation of hand/electrical tools, pillar drills, grinding wheels, etc.
Provide parts lists of components, fastenings and machine tools as directed by the Manager
Maintain stock levels of workshop consumable stores
Assist with incoming and outgoing inspections on all parts and assemblies
Ensuring that all current company policy and procedures are understood and followed
The MF is responsible for safe working practices in the workshop
To conduct all Brazing tasks as directed by the Manager and SCEs
Required to undertake manufacturing tasks and assist the throughput of work through the workshop under the supervision and direction of the Manager and SCEs
The MF is to seek advice and guidance from the Manager and SCEs on best practices and methods of manufacture, for inside and outside of the Workshop
The post holder may have to work out of hours and overtime occasionally

Qualifications Education
Specialised knowledge

The minimum requirement for the post of MF is an indentured engineering apprenticeship in mechanical engineering and 3 years post apprenticeship experience or equivalent work experience (circa 7 years).

JOB REQUIREMENT
Skills Assembly, test, fault finding and rectification of complex mechanical components and machines.

A good understanding and experience of using test equipment, (pressure testing, vacuum dehydration, electrical/electronic, brazing experience would be consideredan advantage).

Good interpersonal communication and organisational skills and the ability to work effectively within a team
