Senior EC&I Designer

The nuclear industry is expected to need possibly 100,000 new employees over the next decade.

Nuclear in the UK, is seeing a recent renaissance with the UK government pledging its support for both large and small-scale nuclear energy projects.

Assystem is the second largest Nuclear Engineering organisation and provides technical engineering support across the world, supporting complex Nuclear New Build, Decommissioning and Defence programmes.

We are currently looking for a Senior EC&I Designer to join our expanding team in our Warrington offices.

You will be involved in the following:

The PFDO have a requirement for a Principal / Senior CE&I Engineer to lead a team providing a design service to the OUs within the Remediation and Waste Management (R&WM) directorate.
This role will involve leading a group of CE&I Engineers/Designers to deliver CE&I design solutions in response to problem definitions from the OU system engineering community.
Typical tasks on the HLWP, HALES, Effluents, Encapsulation and Remediation facilities involve input to equipment obsolescence issues and specification of replacement items, SM and SRE design substantiation, designs for modifications to facilitate plant improvements, redline drawings, PMP reviews, processing of TQs, PPs and ACs etc.

Qualifications:

Significant experience of leading a team of C,E&I engineers and designers undertaking a wide range of C,E&I design packages.
Evidence of delivering fit for purpose engineering design across the full design cycle.
Good working knowledge of CDM regulations as applicable to the Designer role
Good working knowledge of Supply of Machinery Regulations.
Sound understanding of SL Safety Case requirements and production of engineering substantiation documentation.
Sound working knowledge of relevant, national and international codes, specifications, standards and legislation relevant to CE&I engineering.
In depth experience in the design of process instrumentation, control systems, electrical power and lighting.
In depth experience of producing CE&I installation design packages including OIMSs, CDM Risk Assessments and installation drawings: BCDs, schematics, hookups and layouts / GAs.
Experience of producing instrument datasheets.
Experience in undertaking cable and lighting calculations.
Evidence of effectively working with the supply chain in delivering engineering designs.
Working knowledge of the design process for all stages of design (concept, preliminary, detailed through to manufacture and construction).
Leadership / management skills applicable to leading an in house team of design engineers and designers.
Experience of managing design packages being undertaken externally in the Supply Chain.
Ability to travel to Sellafield to attend meetings and perform site surveys.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Microsoft Office
Familiarity with AutoCAD and SL systems e.g. Cimage, icePAC, CAESAR, AVEVA, CONCISE.
