A bit about the role


Working within a small team of like-minded technical professionals, this role will play an essential part in designing, implementing and operating enterprise cloud technology services within the organisation to help meet its mission and goals.


Working across numerous agile multidisciplinary teams that will include Architecture, Software Engineering, Data, Security and Operations professions, you will play a part in the technical and service roadmaps that enable us to deliver excellent digitalservices that support Government housing policy and support of line of business systems.

Specifically, your focus will lie across the Homes England Data Platform that is built on MS Azure products to support the work that will enable us to 'Become Data Driven',work with product team staff including Software and DevOps engineers to enable them to deliver.

Essentially this will be a role that combines areas of Infrastructure, DevOps and Site Reliability Engineering.

Having technical knowledge is great, but also being able to utilise this knowledge to its fullest is essential.

Being able to work closely with colleagues within the Digital Team and across the business is critical to our success.

Understanding your audiencesand framing problems and solutions for their understanding is a key skill.


You will be resilient and comfortable managing stakeholders and your discussions will be shaped by good understanding of commercial and operational impact.


You will have significant experience working at technical level with a proven track record of leading and delivering on infrastructure related outcomes, including the ability to articulate this in a meaningful way to stakeholders.


You will have a good understanding of other areas within Digital such as Operations, Information Security, Software Engineering, Data and Architecture, to enable contribution to our methodologies and frameworks.


An innovative and collaborative approach to solving technical problems, appropriately challenging the status quo and managing expectations for positive outcomes.


Skill Areas & Levels


IT Infrastructure [Practitioner].?Design, implement, administer, support infrastructure technologies and solutions covering compute, storage, networking, IaaS, PaaS & SaaS across physical, virtual and cloud computing environments.


Having at least?MS Certified:

Azure Fundamentals or equivalent experience is essential.?Some of our specific technologies are; Azure DevOps, ARM Templates, PowerShell, Bash, SQL, Kubernetes, Power BI, among others within the Azure stack.

Our IaC languagesare Terraform & ARM.


Troubleshooting and Problem Solving [Practitioner].?You can initiate and monitor actions to logically investigate the correlation of events and trends, breaking down problems into their component parts to identify and diagnose root causes.


Systems Design [Practitioner].?You design systems based on numerous factors such as risk, impact, complexity as well as internal governance such as strategy, standards and principles to ensure alignment and collaborative delivery.


Testing [Working].?You understand the importance of service and systems availability and work to ensure appropriate approaches for testing are carried out to maintain stability and availability during times of change.

Information Security [Working].?Understanding of infosec, types of security controls, standards and practices used to mitigate security threats withing solutions.

Software Development [Awareness].?You understand the software development lifecycle and its part within the wider delivery of modern software services. Knowledge of both tools, technologies, standards and ways of working.?
