Description
Our client is looking for a Base Mechanic on a permanent basis, located in Aberdeen.


ROLE
Support the Workshop Manager in actively undertaking all required mechanical activities. Delivers safe, efficient, innovative and excellent quality work, and provides exceptional service to both internal and external clients.


RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Responsible for the operation, maintenance, modification and repair of Company equipment
  • Responsible for the assembly and disassembly of mechanical equipment; systems testing; the calibration of equipment; and environmental screening.
  • Assist in the design of new equipment, evaluating and recommending mechanical innovations to drive continuous improvement. Provide the Engineering and/or Project Team with technical mechanical input as required.
  • Act upon instructions and deliver upon tasks assigned by the Workshop Manager.
  • Support the Workshop Manager and other Warehouse personnel with load outs, servicing of equipment and other yard activities as required.
  • Liaise with the Warehouse Chargehand regarding their mechanical requirements.
  • Ensure adherence to the lock out procedure for all mechanical devices
  • Service diesel units to the highest standard within required timedeadlines.
  • Coordinate and carry out planned and preventative equipment maintenance.
  • Ensure service vehicles and forklifts are kept in safe operating conditions.
  • Provide knowledgeable and effective troubleshooting.
  • Assist with effective electronic and hardcopy departmental recordkeeping.
  • Assist in monitoring and evaluating the services and products received from 3rd parties, companies and suppliers.
  • Assist with materials and supplies ordering in accordance with Company policy, ensuring accurate completion of required documents.
  • Create from new, or maintain and update existing, any departmental procedures or documents (e.g. Equipment/Parts Requisition forms, Maintenance sheets, Quality system records and Training Matrix information for Trainees, Apprentices or New Hires).
  • Participate in and assist with internal, external and Client audits as required
  • Actively participate in a team environment.
  • Attend other work sites where required.
  • Liaise with third party release inspectors prior to units going offshore.
  • Keep calibration/safety systems on units up to date and filed accordingly.
  • Responsible for the general housekeeping, good order and appearance of the Mechanical bay.
  • Maintain and improve the mechanical workshop bay and stores.
  • Create and present technical presentations on operational and safety issues surrounding the service and functionality of diesel units.
  • Provide practical training to colleagues on the servicing and maintenance of diesel units.
  • Support and commit to ongoing training by providing extensive onthejob training and/or coaching to Trainees, Apprentices or New Hires.
  • Ensure crosstraining of self and assist with crosstraining of others, ensuring balance between mechanical work and other base/office work.
  • Ensure work instructions are communicated effectively to Trainees, Apprentices or New Hires and ensure they are carried out safely.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Timeserved Mechanical qualification with recent and relevant experience is preferred but not essential; semiskilled and highly experienced is acceptable.
  • Has extensive practical working experience of Diesel units or has a Diesel Mechanic background.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects under strict timelines with mínimal supervision.
  • Understand and analyse complex information quickly and effectively; be able to present that information simply and accurately.
  • Ability to establish and maintain excellent working relationships with all internal and external customers.
  • A current driving license is preferred (for example for travel between client and company worksites and premises).
  • B2 Forklift Truck operation certification preferred.
  • Experience in a similar role in the oil and gas industry preferred.
  • Experience of working with 3GP Systems and knowledge of Zone 2 Compliance advantageous.
