Description
We are looking for an enthusiastic apprentice to provide administrative support to the Cancer Services team.


Key responsibilities will include the collection of hospital notes, answering telephone queries, liaising with GP practises, filing and the processing of suspected cancer referrals.


  • To provide administration support to the Cancer Services team, including filing, collecting hospital notes, prepping MDT notes, compiling patient information packs, photocopying/scanning/printing.
  • Use of the Patient Information Management system, CRIS, iSOFT and other clinical systems.
  • Use of the Somerset Cancer Registry (SCR) to register patients, update referral breach reasons, assist with data collection and any other specified task.
  • To work with Excel, Word and Outlook.
  • To answer the telephone when needed and take accurate and concise messages for the Cancer Services team, from patients and other Derriford Departments.


Preference will be given to internal Trust staff, as well as 'Priority' and 'At Risk' status including NHS at Risk staff throughout Devon who is able to display recent relevant experience as dictated by the Person Specification.

COMMUNICATIONS & WORKING RELATIONSHIPS


The post holder will be required to communicate in polite and positive manner with a range of staff including admin staff across the hospital, clinical staff of all levels, and external sources such as GP surgeries and patients.


The post holder will be required to develop professional working relationships and display a willingness and positive attitude with admin staff across the team and trust, a range of clinical staff, patients, and visitors.

  • Ensure the welfare and safety of children within their care. This includes staff who come into contact with children and families in the course of their work as well as those staff who have a specific role with children and families.
  • Ensure they attend Child Protection training at the appropriate level within the specified time frame.
  • Staff must comply with Safeguarding Policies and Procedures in order to promote safeguarding and prevent abuse to vulnerable people using Trust services.
  • Maintain the prevention and control of infection and fully comply with all current Trust Infection Control policies and procedures.
