Description

We are looking for an experienced midwife who will work flexibly within the core team, including rotation from days to nights.

You will be expected to provide support, strong leadership and management, contributing to the wider multidisciplinary team.

While coordinating the labour ward shift you will be expected to take overall responsibility for the maternity unit out of hours.

  • Ensure the smooth running of the Labour Ward on a daytoday basis
  • Maintain oversight and knowledge of management for all clinical care provided on the Labour Ward during a shift
  • Act as a source of clinical support for midwifery and obstetric team
  • Provide expert advice and act as a resource across the multidisciplinary teams (MDTs) ensuring appropriate use of resources and equipment to enable effective and safe provision of care
  • To advise, guide and support midwives and other staff, service users and families where there are emotional and highly distressing circumstances. To offer support to all involved after such events.
  • Demonstrate professional courage, voice concerns, influence and inform excellent, evidencebased care and decision making within the multidisciplinary team
  • Participate in departmental/team meetings and act as a representative when necessary to other committees.
  • Inspire others through action and example, which maintains a good morale, team approach to work and a culture which fosters innovation.
  • Act in a safe and professional manner at all times in accordance with the Nursing and Midwifery Council, Standards of proficiency for Midwives and NMC Code
  • Maintain own professional NMC registration and eligibility to practice via professional development and maintenance of professional portfolio, to ensure compliance with NMC revalidation.
  • Facilitate a supportive working environment for both staff and service users in the Hospital setting, prevent and, if necessary resolve, conflict promptly.
