I.M.P.S. TrainersOxfordshire
The Injury Minimization Programme for Schools has a vacancy for an I.M.P.S. trainer, starting in January 2023 to work in schools and hospitals across Oxfordshire
The trainer will join an existing committed team to teach year old children emergency life skills, risk management, basic life support and first aid as part of an Injury Prevention Programme.
Fixed term zero hours contracts are offered.
Salary:
Health Improvement Resource Practitioner, Band 5.
The I.M.P.S. sessions occur between during school term time. The amount of sessions worked varies according to demand.
Full training and orientation is provided.
The post holder will deliver/facilitate a high quality, planned and scripted injury prevention programme (I.M.P.S.)
- teaching the theory and practice of basic life support (B.L.S.) and emergency life skills to classes of local school children (10 & 11 year olds)
- familiarise the children with a hospital environment and equipment.
You will be working as part of a small, dedicated team.
Each member has a passion for injury prevention and is able to provide a fun and inspiring, high paced memorable session for the pupils.

To deliver/facilitate a high quality, planned and scripted injury prevention programme in schools and hospitals across the whole of Oxfordshire
To comply with the Resuscitation Council Guidelines
Organisational
To liase with peers, school and office staff to deliver well co-ordinated high quality I.M.P.S. visits within the agreed session time.
To replenish/replace stores/supplies and equipment needed for the delivery of the I.M.P.S. programme.
To be able to travel to schools and hospitals county wide
Communication
To have a duty to express and discuss any concerns or issues affecting the team or running the programme with the programme co-ordinator
To complete evaluation procedures at the end of a session
To deliver a training programme to children from mainstream and special needs schools.
To maintain good communication relationships with other hospital departments, visitors to the programme, important dignitaries and media representatives.
To maintain good communications with the schools, class teachers and other adults.
Monitoring quality
To work within I.M.P.S. trainers' quality assurance guidelines as stated in the quality assurance manual and trainers ground rules
To observe, evaluate and feedback peers teaching to maintain quality and standards.
To self evaluate teaching as stated in the trainer's ground rules
Professional
To comply with I.M.P.S. programme aims, objectives and values
To commit to the I.M.P.S. trainers ground rules
To work effectively as a member of the I.M.P.S. team supporting peers in their programme delivery and communications with children and their supporting adults.
To work with peers to ensure that the mechanisms currently in place for maintaining the high quality of I.M.P.S. and/or associated project in Oxfordshire are adhered to.
To participate in personal development plans and identify/address any training need with the programme co-ordinator.
To contribute to the continued improvement of the training programme
To work within the Area Child Protection Committee Guidelines and attend child protection training as required.
To comply with the statutory/mandatory training required for the role and complete training as required.
Risk Management
The management of risk is the responsibility of everyone and will be achieved within a progressive, honest and open environment.
Staff should be familiar with the
Major incident policy
Fire policy
And should make themselves familiar with the 'local response' plan and their role within that response.
Responsibilities for health and safety
The post holder is responsible for ensuring that all duties and responsibilities of this post are carried out in compliance with the Health and Safety at work Act 1974.
