    Tutor Role Overview

    Mencap's Supported Internships combine education and work experience to prepare learners with a learning disability, learning difficulty, or autism for employment. As a Tutor on this programme, you will focus on delivering the educational element of the Supported Internships, working closely with team members to provide holistic support in finding paid employment.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Deliver elements of teaching, learning, and assessment to learners, including accredited functional skills in English and Mathematics.
    • Teach English and Maths by embedding them into lessons about employability, as well as further life skills that impact learners' interactions with their community.
    • Develop and facilitate lesson plans, with a minimum of one full day of planning and admin time per week.

    About You

    • You must have experience of supporting people, delivering against targets, and working with a diverse group of learners.
    • A-C/9-4 English and Maths GCSE (or equivalent) and a recognised teaching qualification at level 5 (DTLLS, PGCE, CertEd) are essential.
    • Knowledge and experience of delivering and assessing functional skills in English and Maths up to level 2, as well as good classroom management skills and strategies, are also required.
