Building Regulations & Compliance Consultant - London
This role can be based out of our London, Colchester, Birmingham and Southeast England offices.
To support our ambitious growth plans, we have a great opportunity to join our Building and Real Estate Division.

We are looking for a Building Regulations & Compliance Consultant to join our newly established Building Regulations & Compliance Consultant team concentrating on the Non-HRB market.

Sitting solely within our consultancy service you will be able to bring your knowledge, skills and understanding of technical delivery and compliance to design teams from inception to completion.

- Provide general project support relating to the building regulations and related legislation.
- Reviewing plans, drawings, specifications, and other documents submitted for consultant approval to ensure they comply with building regulations and other related legislation.
- Carry out inspections of buildings prior and during construction to verify compliance with regulations related to public health, fire safety, energy conservation, sustainability, and building accessibility.
- Advise and assist applicants on necessary changes to meet legal requirements of the building regulations (procedural and technical)
- Attend project meetings with the project team and keep records of any actions required.
- Working with SOCOTEC's existing client base, offering a new service as per the Building Safety Act and market changes.
- Organise project information and construction records.
- Proactive liaison with design teams to identify key hazards and interfaces with other designers.
- Facilitation of risk workshops for the project and working with individual designers to find suitable mitigation measures or a reduction of those risks to a more acceptable level.
- Building and maintaining current client relationships and assisting to build new client relationships.
- Providing guidance to legislation and responsibilities to Building Regulations dutyholders and client teams.
- Provide support and assist with training to other members of the team.
- Assist with the training and support to other members of the Socotec Building and Real Estate teams where required.
To be successful in this role, you will be able to demonstrate:
- A relevant bachelor's degree Building Surveying, Architecture, Construction Management.
- Registered Building Inspector (desirable we will support you with achieving this)
- Proficiency in Microsoft word, excel and other MS Office software.
- Strong Organisational skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Document organisation and management.
- Good understanding of the legal framework behind building regulations
- Good knowledge of technical design including commercial fit out.
Desirable:
- An overview of construction procurement routes including Design and Build.
- An understanding of CDM procedures and associated legislation.
- Experience of working closely with the design team (Architects, Principal Designer and Design and Build Contractors)
- Strong understanding of the construction phases
- Experience within Building Control will be beneficial.
