Summary of the Role:
The Payroll Officer is a pivotal role in the processing of the organisations payroll.
The role holder will deputise for the Payroll Manager ensuring that there is a smooth monthly transaction and its accuracy.
The role will support the regional operational teams/managers for a fully effective payroll process to be in operation for frontline operational employees.
Key Responsibilities
- To undertake checks and balances prior to any payroll transmissions which would incur additional support, resource or costs.
- Input of starters, leavers and changes processing all required paperwork/system changes for payroll.
- Preparation of payroll journals
- Prepare and report key KPIs on a monthly basis for review by Payroll Manager
- Checking IT systems, such as Timegate to ensure all data is entered correctly.
- Investigate and answer queries both verbally and written.
- Processing payments for circa 1200 employees
- Answers queries, both complex and simple, from Managers, People team, and employees relating to, Statutory payments (Statutory Maternity Pay, Statutory Sick Pay, Inland Revenue Regulations), involving explaining, clarifying, and
- Checking hours and absence
- Conduct regular audits to ensure accuracy of information received.

£25,000.00-£32,000.00 per year

Ability to commute/relocate:
- CHATHAM: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)

- Payroll: 2 years (required)
