Description
West Swindon is an urban parish serving a resident population in the region of 28,000 people and 11,000 households.

Formed in 2017 with 15 Parish Councillors, the Parish Council provides all grounds maintenance, play and general cleansing functions in public open spaces and parks.

The Parish Council has an annual precept of £1.1 million.


Ideally you should have experience of working with local residents in a local government capacity, experience of minute taking, preparing reports, budgets, finance and the administration of meetings.

Experience of working within a Parish Council setting preferred.


You should possess excellent organisational and communication skills and be able to work as part of a small team to help deliver the Council's priorities.

The Parish office is open from 8.00 am to 4.00 pm Monday to Thursday and 8.00 am to 12.30 pm on Fridays.

Office staff are expected to work a schedule of hours that support the office opening times. Hours negotiable.

Job Purpose

  • To deputise for the Clerk/Parish Manager in their absence
  • Responsible for providing consistent and reliable clerical, financial and administrative support to the Clerk/Parish Manager and the Council.
  • To assist in the production of committee information and reports and ensure that agendas and minutes are prepared, approved and published in accordance with policy and legal requirements
  • To assist in the maintenance of administrative and financial records. To initiate and maintain relevant recording and policy procedures to ensure work is carried out in an efficient and accurate manner.
