THE ROLE
We have an exciting role for a Head of Major Projects in Scotland who will report into the Group Head of Transmission.
The Head of Major Projects is responsible for the delivery of SGN regulated output measures associated with the Capex investment plan onthe transmission network, managing a team of Project Managers to deliver multiple transmission projects and be accountable for the full project lifecycle encompassing scoping, estimating, financial approvals, design, procurement, construction, records andclose out of each project.
Key responsibilities will include;- Maintaining effective relationships with relevant stakeholders both internally and externally, to efficiently deliver programmes of work which meet all stakeholder requirements and expectations through to project closure.
- Leadership, Strategy and Management of Safety for all staff and contractors working on the delivery of SGN's Capex investment programme for transmission assets and SIUs.
- Leadership, Strategy and Management of engineering and quality for all projects, leading a team of Project Managers to deliver additional assets and upgrades in full compliance with the requirements of SGN's safety management framework and ensure assetsare constructed to the required standards.
- Leadership, Strategy and Management of all commercial aspects associated with project delivery including the preparation of contracts, ITT's, management of contracts, agreement of compensation events, negotiations and financial agreements.
- Leadership, Strategy and Management of project controls such as programmes, risk management, stakeholder management in accordance with recognised Project Management best practice to ensure consistent delivery of project on time and on budget.

WHAT YOU'LL BRING
The job holder should preferably have a degree in relevant engineering discipline and/or be Incorporated Engineering (IEng) or Chartered Engineer (CEng) level.
- Detailed working knowledge of Project Management principles and best practice
- Detailed working knowledge of Financial control, forecasting, estimating and management accounting processes
- Expert in Procurement processes for the provision of project support services and engineering design. Along with mechanical, civil, electrical and instrumentation service providers
- Working knowledge and excess of 5 years' experience of Pressure Reduction and Volumetric Control station Design Standards
- Working knowledge and excess of 5 years' experience of Steel pipeline and pipework Welding Standards, techniques and acceptance criteria
- Working knowledge of IGEM standards for transmission pipeline and installation projects
- Working knowledge of EL/6 requirements and compliance with electricity at work regulations
- Knowledge on Satellite and Radio based telemetry systems, including hilltop installations
- Industrial control systems, PLCs, SCADA and software development.
- Construction techniques and processes E&I Installations including introducing new / complex E&I systems on site and ATEX/DSEAR
