Job Description - Care Assistant


Responsible to:
Manager
/Deputy Manager/*Trained Nursing staff/Senior Care Assistant


Purpose:
To care for the service users in a manner, which respects their dignity and privacy and promotes their independence.

Main Responsibilities

To comply with the homes Health and Safety, COSHH and Environmental Health Regulations.

To attend and contribute to staff meetings when required

To maintain confidentiality on all aspects of care and your work within the home.


To have a working knowledge of the home's policies and procedures in respect to your job and responsibilities especially in relation to the safe guarding of service users.


To assist service user's with personal care which includes, using the bath, bed bath or shower, foot and nail care, shampooing hair, helping a service user shave, combing or brushing hair, mouth care, denture care, helping the service user use a bedpan, helping the service user use a urinal, helping a service user use the toilet or a portable commode, preparing for bed, getting out of bed, washing and dressing.

Helping the service user with physical and mental activites.

This could involve talking to them, taking them out for a walk or day trip, reading to them, writing on their behalf, assisting with their hobbies and recreation activities.

Care at end of life.

Be on standby to answer emergency bells, greet visitors, and answer the telephone or door.

Ensure care notes and any other form of written report that affects your work are read and kept up-to-date.

Take part in staff meetings and internal and external training as required.

Attend mandatory training as required.

2 nights/week and cover for holidays and sickness 22hours+ per week.
