Description
An exciting opportunity for an experienced procurement professional to join a leading manufacturing organisation as a Strategic Buyer. This role will be responsible for developing the commodity strategy and managing supplier relationships.


Key Responsibilities of theStrategic Buyer;

  • Develop a longterm purchasing strategy for allocated category.
  • Conduct supply market trend analysis, spend analysis and stock level analysis.
  • Project feasibility analysis regarding costing and lead times.
  • Conduct sourcing and supplier selection activities.
  • Ensure all necessary item information is set up in ERP system.
  • Set up and negotiate contracts with existing and new suppliers.
  • Monitor and review performance with suppliers.
  • Agree and monitor improvement plans with suppliers.
  • Monitor and report on the raw material price indices.
  • Drive cost improvements through various purchasing tools and strategies
  • Build relationships with suppliers to improve pricing and quality of services.
  • Establish escalation process for any issues impacting the supply chain.
  • Conduct audits with suppliers and visit suppliers as required.

Personal Specification of theStrategic Buyer;

  • Degree and / or CIPS qualification would be preferred.
  • Proven Procurement & Category Management experience.
  • Experience of working within a manufacturing environment.
  • Electronics or Mechanical commodity experience would be preferred.
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to effectively prioritise workload.
  • Strong problemsolving skills.
  • Selfmotivated and enthusiastic.


This role would also suit you if you have held a role within purchasing or procurement as a Senior Buyer, Purchasing Controller, Commodity Manager, Sourcing Manager, Category Manager, Supplier Manager.
