We are looking for a Digital Automation Engineer (KTP Associate) to work within RM Group based in Newtown, Wales.


RM Group and The Manufacturing Technology Centre have joined forces to create a unique and exciting opportunity for an individual looking to accelerate their career in Digital Manufacturing, in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.


This role is a 2-year fixed contract, part of Innovate UK's Knowledge Transfer Partnership Scheme, funded by UKRI and the Welsh Government, to create a digital simulation of the operation and performance of customer automation systems.

To achieve this, youwill define a process to deliver proof of value of automation systems for palletisation including the requirements capture, data definition, pre-sales simulation and delivery of the proposed automation systems.

Alongside the digital simulation, there are expected to be two core elements to this project:

  • Research and understand current process and RM customer requirements.
  • Define new process for digital technical sales that will differentiate RMs offerings to others in the market.
  • A degree in Computer Science, Simulation, Robotics & Automation, a relevant Engineering degree or similar discipline, or equivalent in terms of either other qualifications and/or experience.
  • Some experience of programming/coding would be desirable, as would an understanding and definition of manufacturing operations/processes and Lean manufacturing.
  • An active interest in new innovations in the simulation, robotics, and automation fields, and kept abreast of developments through literature, events and social media.
  • A driver's license is mandatory.
