Main Purpose


Glen Dimplex Group is a world leader in intelligent electric heating and renewable energy solutions, as well as holding significant global market positions in domestic appliances, cooling and ventilation.


Our Heating and Ventilation Division are looking for a Health and Safety Officer to be responsible for the day to day management and co-ordination of all relevant Health and Safety requirements on two large manufacturing facilities in close proximity.

The role requires an experienced professional with good technical Health and Safety knowledge who can act autonomously but will be supported by the offsite Head of Health and Safety and peers on other manufacturing sites.

The role requires a hands-on approach, and the right individual will be able to influence personnel at all levels and be confident in their abilities to improve the safety culture in a positive, collaborative and pragmatic manner


Responsibilities

  • Advising on overall compliance in matters of Health and Safety on site(s) in accordance with Company policy and relevant statutory provisions;
  • Assist with the development and maintenance of ISO 45001 and other management standards;
  • Delivering Health and Safety induction programmes for new employees;
  • Assist with the identification of H&S training needs for the company, source external training and deliver internal training;
  • Support site teams and departments in the investigation and reporting of accidents and incidents as required ensuring any learning points are communicated;
  • Delivering and completing statutory notifications to the HSENI, etc. for incidents / accident reporting;
  • Conduct H&S inspections, safety tours and audits in order to identify gaps in procedures and to ensure that the company is meeting all legislative and system requirements;
  • Supporting the review and development of method statements, risk assessments and safe systems of work;
  • Improve H&S awareness of all staff and employees through communication, training and engagement;
  • Responsible for monitoring and enforcing the use of safe systems of work including Personal Protective Equipment as necessary;
  • Work as a member of a team in helping to implement and carry out all company working practices as well as Health, Safety and Environmental procedures.
  • Monitor and track all other H&S management process and data, as necessary.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of behavioural safety programmes

Skills, Knowledge and Experience

ESSENTIAL

  • Minimum 2 years' experience in a similar environment;
  • NEBOSH General Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety or equivalent;
  • Competent to carry out all necessary risk assessments and incident investigations;
  • IT literate on Microsoft Office packages.

DESIRABLE

  • Experience of developing and implementing health and safety management systems;
  • NEBOSH Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety;
  • H&S experience gained in a fast moving engineering manufacturing environment.
  • Train the trainer qualification.
  • Knowledge of Sharepoint and Microsoft Office 365 would be advantageous.
