To be professionally accountable for the maintenance of standards of professional practice as set by the appropriate regulatory body applicable to your profession or role and in line with the Royal Wolverhampton Trust.


To support the Senior Sister/Charge Nurse with the assessment of training needs and subsequent development, delivery of training programmes including Nurse induction, Care Certificate, and on-going educational and clinical development programmes for nurses.


To be accountable for:

To ensure safe and effective clinical/educational practice.

To work within an educational environment.

Supporting and reinforcing the values and standards of compassion and respect in care, demonstrating analysis and decision-making skills Supporting in the delivery of educational sessions to qualified nurses, providing a clinically and educationally excellent, high-quality service which will influence and facilitate change within the organisation.


Ensure a high standard of care and record keeping in accordance with Nursing and Midwifery Council, Health and Care Professions Council, national legislation, and local standards.

To promote learning within the clinical environment


Demonstrate a specialist level of knowledge, skill and understanding of clinical practice standards within the Trust acting as a resource and role model to colleagues.

Support staff with specialist advice in relation to practice education.


Work alongside clinical staff, promoting best practice, providing support and education, facilitating a learning environment and development of staff to meet local requirements.

When delivering training sessions and supporting staff clinically, promote that all staff are aware of and adhere to all relevant Trust policies and procedures as part of educational activity,


Participate in supporting a culture of protecting patients from harm and deprivation of basic rights ensuring a safe and effective service with continuous quality improvement.


Contributes to managing changes and improvement using audit, staff/student feedback and reflection on practice by self and other members of the team.


Promote a clean and safe environment by ensuring compliance with legislation, policies and protocols including health and safety, healthcare associated infection prevention, clinical governance, including risk management and critical incident reporting and root cause analysis.


Participate in the promotion of a high standard of fundamental care and record keeping in accordance with Nursing and Midwifery Council, Health Professions Council, national legislation, and local standards.

To support staff development when standards fall below expected levels.

Report incidents and near misses promptly and appropriately

To enhance the patients experience

Within an educational environment, promote a culture of person-centred care.


Ensure that everyone within the sphere of care is treated with dignity and humanity, understanding individual needs, showing compassion and sensitivity, and provide care in a way that respects all people equally.

To manage and develop the performance of the team


Act as a visible positive role model to others setting expected standards of behaviour, contribute to the delivery of high-quality person-centred care.


Promote staff to take responsibility and accountability for the care they provide, judgements made, and actions taken in a way meets the requirements of organisational policies and procedures, professional bodies and the law.
