Job overview

The post holder will be a valued member of the busy Research Team.

They will provide a research administrative and office service on behalf of the research team, and play an active role in many research related activities.

The main purpose of this role is to process research study amendments for the entire clinical trial portfolio that we hold within the Cancer and Associated Specialities division.


The main base of work will be the City Campus however, you could be expected to work at all Trust sites and flexibly as required.

Main duties of the job

To liaise with Research staff, other hospital staff and trial personnel, as requested

To ensure that confidentiality of all information pertaining to patients and trials is maintained at all times.

To be competent in the use of hospital systems: Medway, DHR, Notis

Ensure documents are correctly filed in patient records and in clinical investigator brochures

To provide photocopying and scanning, as required.

To support the upkeep of trial related records such as GCP certificates, signed CVs, Delegation Logs.


To deliver and collect the out-patient trial files to and from the appropriate clinics and ensure the file is kept up-to-date.

Maintain the current and completed trials cupboards in an orderly manner.

Assist in the input of data on Documas including screening, recruitment and notes.

To support trial close-out and the archiving of trial related files and documents.

To support and process the implementation of trial related amendments.

To support patient safety by ensuring that alerts are uploaded and actioned by the team.

To report all accidents and incidents to the Research Team Manager.

To comply with Health and Safety policies.

To undertake any other duties which may be reasonably required.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

The post holder will be a valued member of the busy Research Team.

They will provide a research administrative and office service on behalf of the research team, and play an active role in many research related activities.

The main purpose of this role is to process research study amendments for the entire clinical trial portfolio that we hold within the Cancer and Associated Specialities (CAS) division.

The post will sit within the CAS division.

This post holder will be part of a large and busy research team working hard to deliver research opportunities to cancer patients.

This role will support the clinical team members by administrating and implementing study specific amendments. This process is vital in adhering to protocol agreements and GCP requirements.

The majority of this post will be working on processing amendments, however other trial related administrative tasks for research delivery will be required as needed.
