Ward Receptionist Disney Ward Northampton General Hospital TrustPart Time 20 hours per week to work on Wednesday and Thursday each week and 2 Saturday shifts per month
We are looking for and enthusiastic, hardworking and motivated person to join our team on Disney Ward which is predominantly a busy surgical and oncology ward.
The role includes providing support to medical and nursing staff as well as internal and external departments involved with the care of the child and family.
The post holder will ensure that administrative activities are sustained and that information requested will be provided and recorded in a timely manner.
There is an expectation that the post holder will be able to communicate at all levels, prioritise workload and work independently and unsupervised as well as a member of the unit team.
In addition to the main clerical responsibilities the post holder will work autonomously and will help to maintain the clinical database and system programmes used within the ward.
You will often be the first point of contact for patients and relatives who come to the ward so should have a pleasant and welcoming personality.
You will be required to work closely with the nursing; medical; supporting clinical staff and therapists to provide an efficient and effective service.
As you will be undertaking a wide range of administrative duties you must be a good communicator, face to face and on the telephone; have good organisational skills; knowledge of IT systems and data inputting and be flexible, being able to respond to changing priorities.
Your role will also include liaising and taking notes to other departments in the Trust and working with the team of ward clerks within the Children's' unit to cross cover workloads as needed in response to changing work pressures.
We have also entered into a Group Model with neighbouring Kettering General Hospital NHS Foundation Trust and become University Hospitals of Northamptonshire.

Ensure the Camis system is maintained accurately reflecting the patient's journey from admission to discharge.
To support staff with the administrative aspects of the admission and discharge processes.
Source NHS numbers and ensure records are updated.
Support staff in preparing information for the pre operative clinic on a weekly basis
Ensure incoming and outgoing post is directed to appropriate staff within the team.
To answer and manage internal and external telephone enquiries redirect to appropriate person as necessary always maintaining confidentiality.
Take and collect items from other departments in the hospital as required
Ensure folders for nursing and medical documents are requested from medical records, make folders up and ensure that nursing and medical documentation is filed correctly.
To promote effective communication channels both within the ward /department /directorate and Trust.
Ensure the medical and nursing staff have access to a daily ward inpatient list.
Ensure that there is a readily available supply of stationary within the unit.
This includes photocopying documents as and when required and liaising with Desk Top Publishing (DTP) to arrange printing of specific and updated documents.
Access to EPROC system.To be responsible for booking outpatient appointments as requested by nursing / medical staff.
If requested accept donations on behalf of the unit, ensuring these funds are correctly paid in, managing the storage of donation receipts and ensuring an individual acknowledgement to the donor is made by the appropriate personnel.
