Description

Applications are invited for a Fixed Term Consultant post in Ophthalmology (High Volume, Low Complexity) based at Southlands and St Richard's Hospitals, part of the University Hospitals Sussex NHS Foundation Trust.

This is a replacement post triggered by a retirement.

The successful applicant will join a team of 8 Consultants who provide Ophthalmic services across a wide geographical area. Provision of the eye services is split across St Richard's Hospital in Chichester and Southlands Hospital in Shoreham. Southlands is a new specialist built Ophthalmology building which opened in 2017.

There are a team of non-medical practitioners led by a Consultant Optometrist who also provide medical management of chronic conditions.

**The Trust have invested heavily in the eye services in the last few years and we have brought about a number of changes within the department. Most relevant to this advert is the approval to go ahead with an Electronic Healthcare Record which will improve our links with the local community eye services and our management of glaucoma and retina. Hand in hand with this is the development of a virtual clinic pathway for glaucoma to assist us in triaging our patients' needs and focusing the delivery of care.
