As a Through Life Support Officer in DE&S, you have the opportunity to make a positive difference to supporting our Armed Forces.

You will be given guidance, training, and assistance, enabling you to help shape the design, development, and implementation of innovative support solutions for some of the most complex, dynamic, and cutting-edge technology used within the Ships domain.


You will also assist in the development of the Support and Training Solution for the new Type 26 Frigate by working closely with colleagues, our client, Industry, and our prime contractor, identifying and supporting the implementation of the most effective methods to bring the capability into service and ensure an effective transition to In-Service Support.


This role enables you to have a direct influence in how the Royal Navy manage, operate, maintain, diagnose, and repair the on-board systems and equipment, including those for propulsion, navigation, observation, detection, communication, offensive action, protection, and survivability.

You can base yourself in our offices at either

  • HMNB Portsmouth, Portsmouth, Hampshire PO1 3LJ
or

HMNB Devonport, Plymouth, Devon PL2 2BG.

Some working from home will be available, but an in
- office attendance will be expected as required.


This Role offers opportunities for regular and varied UK travel to including Naval Bases, military & training establishments, and industrial supplier's premises.

Prior notice will be given, and Subsistence costs covered.

Please note:

That salary offers above the £32,500 - £35,000 range will only be made based on exceptional performance at interview.


Responsibilities

  • Providing whole life support cost, reliability, maintainability, and availability estimates.
  • Identifying and escalating mitigation and supportability risk.
  • Verifying and validating the Integrated Logistics Support (ILS) process.
  • Assisting in the definition and development of the T26 ILS Plan and associated ILS documentation.
  • Consulting with colleagues and stakeholders to develop the T26 support and training solutions into service by providing relevant, timely and accurate support information, data, and analysis.
  • Undertaking specialised ILS training to enable you to monitor contractual deliverables of Training Design and Integration of T26 specific training solutions into the Royal Navy's training system, including the Virtual Learning Environment.
  • Assisting the Support Lead in wider support functions such as evaluating and recommending investments in tools, test equipment, software, technical documentation, publications and managing their assurance through life.

Person specification

  • A background in delivering Asset Management Systems and/or knowledge in delivering Through Life Support services/systems or associated disciplines (Project Management, Supply Chain, Engineering, Business Management, Operations Management).
  • Evidence of stakeholder engagement, internal and external, at all levels.
  • Experience in delivering customer service.
  • Understanding and knowledge in producing reports for identifying issues and trends, for communicating, recommending, and influencing an approach and decision.
  • Previous experience working in a logistic/equipment support or engineering environment, such as maintenance or related qualification/study.
It would also be great if you can demonstrate any of the following
desirable criteria:

  • Some experience in the Through Life Management of Training.
