"Working to prevent youth offending and to enhance community safety"

Job Summary

We have an exciting opportunity _for_ you to join the Youth Offending and Prevention Service as a Youth Justice Worker/Social worker on a permanent basis.

North Somerset Youth Offending Service is a successful partnership between North Somerset Council, Police, Probation, Health Integrated Care Board, Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner and other agencies.

Our key aim is to prevent children from entering the justice system, and we are committed to ensuring the Youth Justice Board's Child First principles are at the heart of the work we do with children, young people and their families.

About the role

As a Youth Justice worker, you will manage a caseload of young people on statutory youth justice interventions as well as those at risk of offending on a diversionary preventative basis.

You will work in a multi-agency way and with children and their families so they are included in a holistic assessment and support process.

You will also be responsible for one to one interventions working alongside young people and their families.

You will promote children's individual strengths and capacities to develop their pro-social identity for sustainable desistance, leading to safer communities and fewer victims.

All your work will be constructive and future-focused, built on supportive relationships that empower children to fulfil their potential and make positive contributions to society.

You will prepare reports for Court and Panels and undertake court duties on a duty basis.

About you

  • We will look to you to have experience of working with young people and their families in the Youth Justice system, as well as experience and understanding of working within a multiagency setting.
  • You will have an approved professional qualification relevant to the area of work, which could include social work, teaching, probation or youth work.
  • You will have a thorough and up to date understanding of safeguarding issues and child protection procedures.
This position is available to those looking for secondment opportunity within North Somerset.
