Job Introduction

As a Commissioning Officer within the Older People and Physical Disabilities Team, you will play a key role, within the Care Commissioning Team, in ensuring that we continue to deliver the Council's priorities, and enable vulnerable people to be as independent as possible within the community.


You will be working as part of a wider commissioning team and also with a range of external professionals across the Health and Care Sector.


This exciting position has arisen following the internal promotion of the current post holder to a more senior role within Health and Care.

Main Responsibilities

In this role you will:

  • Be responsible for leading on specific projects within the agreed change and transformation programmes, Care in The Home and Accommodation Based Care.
  • Supporting other commissioning leads across the team on a range of projects.
  • Taking a specific lead for dementia and working with the Lead Commissioner to develop a strategic approach.
  • Providing specialist advice and support in all elements of commissioning, needs assessment and service design to achieve better outcomes.
  • Work across a wide variety of stakeholder and partners.
  • Develop positive and constructive relationships with care providers.
  • Work collaboratively with people who receive care and support, and their families, and have a commitment to engagement and co production.
  • Understand Adult Social Care and the challenges faced by local authorities.
  • Take a lead to deliver specific commissioning projects and schemes.
  • Work independently and be able to deliver to agreed deadlines.
  • Be able to deliver agreed objectives to a high standard.
  • Be able to work with a range of partners and stakeholders.
  • Be able to analyse, interpret and present data and information to a range of audiences.
  • Be able to prepare written reports and presentations.
  • Have skills in engagement and co production.
