We're currently recruiting a Building Surveyor to provide a specialist technical support service for Stockport Homes Group.

You will be working closely with a range of stakeholders including expert witnesses, liaising with in-house contractors, subcontractors and tenants / customers to deliver a wide range of repairs services.


The key purpose of this position is to deal with disrepair claims as well as project managing specialist works and working with a whole range of property types.


As the Building Surveyor, you will be responsible for:

  • Conducting in depth surveys utilising specialist equipment to assist in diagnosis of disrepair issues and any minor structural defects
  • Project managing remedial works including site visits and audit inspections
  • Preparing schedules of work and monitoring completion dates and all aspects of quality of both internal and external contractors
  • Obtaining accurate and details information about necessary repairs / improvements to properties and undertake / coordinate a range of surveys
  • Arranging, preparing and distributing relevant repair information to our legal team
  • Evaluate, agree and reconcile final accounts for major projects including fire damage works.
  • A recognised building qualification (HND or equivalent minimum)
  • A recognised trade backgrounds
  • Experience of working in a social housing environment
  • Experience and knowledge of Disrepair protocol and resolving claims
  • A working knowledge of Housing legislation and in particular Sections 9a, 10 & 11 of the Landlord and Tenant Act 1985, and Section 4 Defective Premises Act 197
  • Knowledge of legal and regulatory requirements, Health and Safety, CDM, Asbestos at Work, Party Wall Act etc.
  • A comprehensive understanding of dampness and condensation related defects and resolutions.
