JOB DESCRIPTION:
TRANSPORT ASSISTANT
An interesting opportunity is available for somebody with a genuine interest in the transport industry, to join a growing business as part of a professional and busy team based from our depot in Shotton.
WHO WILL I BE WORKING WITH:
Gwynedd Shipping Group is an award-winning transport, shipping and storage company, operating within the UK and Ireland with a fleet of over 500 trailers.
Having built a reputation for delivering exceptional customer service, and with an established team of over 100 drivers, the business is continuing to grow year on year.
WHAT WILL THE ROLE ENTAIL?Reporting to the depot manager as a transport assistant, you will take part responsibility (with training given) for the preparation and running of the road fleet.
Liaising directly with the depot manager and team, to ensure that services are delivered efficiently and effectively.1: Trailer co-ordination - setting up and allocating trailers for varied loads, checking equipment and cross referencing with the load and trailer types.
2: Assisting in communicating daily workloads to various shift drivers, with any relevant information required.3: Assist in co-ordinating the service schedules for maintenance of trucks and trailers
4: Undertaking administration tasks associated with the transport management systems in place
5: Ensuring performed duties comply with legal requirements and company policies.
6: Ensuring all health and safety requirements are taken into account
WHAT WILL I NEED TO BE CONSIDERED FOR THIS ROLE OF
TRANSPORT ASSISTANT?
An interest in training and working within the transport industry, gaining knowledge and skills.
Computer skills:
Basic word / excel is required, training in our own transport systems will be provided.
The ability to prioritise a workload.
Professional, honest and friendly manner towards both customers and colleague's
Excellent communication and organisation skills
Versatility and ability to work under their own initiative, and also as a team.
A good level of health and fitness, as some lifting will be required, the ability to bend, stretch, lift etc without exertion or pain

£10.42 per hour
which is equivalent to £442.85 per week and £23,028 per annum
Holidays: 20 Days annual leave plus statutory bank holidays
