About the role
Nottingham has over 800 listed buildings and more than 30 Conservation Areas.

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Conservation Officer to play an important role within the Council's Development Management Service, in particular to help drive forward Nottingham's heritage led regeneration and placemaking agenda.

We are looking for an strong communicator who is pragmatic with excellent problem solving skills.

You will be experienced in conservation and heritage led regeneration and have the ability to support partners in delivering the Council's heritage regeneration agenda.

The role of Principal Place Leadership and Conservation Officer presents a great opportunity to further your career and help make a real difference to the City of Nottingham.


You will have a degree or similar experience in conservation management, historic buildings and urban regeneration as well as bidding for external funding.

Working in a political environment you will be familiar with national planning and heritage policies and have extensive experience of working with and advising Development Management Officers.

The Principal Place Leadership and Conservation Officer will also play a key role in revising the City Council's Local Plan.


About who we are looking for:

  • Experience of providing and advising on conservation to Development management Officers, Councillors, local communities and developers
  • Proven skills in the delivery of an expanding urban design and heritage led regeneration agenda
  • Take responsibility for the establishment of design and conservation strategies and to prepare guidance in accordance with 'good place making principles'
  • Operational experience and represent the service area at key meetings, negotiating with developers and other agencies as required and to work corporately to achieve an integrated planning service
