Key Task Areas and Responsibilities:


Service Users:


  • Support class teachers/tutors to ensure the delivery of highquality education for all students.
  • Assist in implementing relevant education policies and procedures.
  • Provide individual or group support to students for accessing the curriculum independently.
  • Promote physical, educational, and moral development of students.
  • Efficiently use, store, and maintain equipment and resources, reporting maintenance issues.
  • Collaborate with the teaching team to organise classrooms for students with autism spectrum disorder.
  • Assist in developing and evaluating documentation for individual students.
  • Contribute to planning for student safety on and offsite.
  • Produce resources/teaching aids as requested by teachers/tutors.
  • Work collaboratively within the multiprofessional team.
  • Participate in the morning routine for students, including personal care support.
  • Manage challenging behaviour, fostering selfcontrol in Service Users.
  • Maintain regular communication with care staff to ensure a consistent approach.
  • Safeguard students, ensuring their safety and wellbeing.

General:


  • Operate within agreed budgets and contribute to budgetary compliance.
  • Exercise vigilance in Health and Safety matters, promptly reporting and remedying hazards.
  • Report staff and Service User issues/incidents promptly to relevant Line Manager.
  • Adhere to Company policies and procedures, including Safeguarding, Child Protection, Whistleblowing, Complaints, and Behaviour Policies.
  • Participate in training and take responsibility for personal development.
  • Attend team meetings, supervisions, and annual reviews.
  • Promote the Centre as a valued, professional asset within the community.
  • Act in the best interests of Service Users and the Company.
  • Exhibit Company values and maintain standards of behaviour.

Requirements:


Essential:


  • Experience working with autistic spectrum disorders and/or challenging behaviour.
  • Experience in an education/residential setting.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Accurate information recording skills.
  • Good organisational skills.
  • Ability to deal with complex and challenging behaviour.
  • Ability to demonstrate empathy.
  • Basic IT skills.

Qualifications & Training:


  • Level 3 Certificate in Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools.
  • Willingness to work towards further qualifications as required.
  • Undertake relevant group induction training on commencement.

Other:


  • Commitment to the values of the organisation.
  • Driving license.
