Developing others, through coaching, skills development and regular linking with a large variety of learners within AHP and Nursing roles in clinical practice are key elements of the Clinical Educator role within Norfolk Community health and Care.


This is a fantastic opportunity to be part of an enthusiastic and motivated Clinical Education team within Norfolk Community health and Care.

We are looking for a forward thinking individual who can work as part of a team.


We have a vacancy for a full time Clinical Educator interested in supporting, in part, International nurses alongside the clinical education provision of clinical skills, support of learners, close liaison with our external partners and the opportunity to be supported to gain a teaching, professional nurse advocate or coaching qualification.


You will need to have a passion for education and supporting learners and have trained as a practice educator or nursing supervisor and be able to demonstrate experience of working and supporting students and / or Apprentices.

There will be the opportunity to be involved in helping us roll out the learning hub project and to be involved in helping the team to continually evolve and meet the changing needs of clinical education.

Working as part of a small team, the role is varied, and challenging, yet rewarding to see learners develop as part of the NCHC future workforce

  • The role requires supporting apprentices and students in their work placement areas to ensure they achieve the appropriate clinical competencies to practice, including care certificate requirements.
  • In addition you will be required to deliver the clinical competencies outlined in NCH&C's clinical competency and skills framework, trough teaching packages and workshops.
  • Working with partner organisations to support ongoing international nurse recruitment and initial support within clinical areas.
  • There is an expectation that the person will have an awareness of the Practice Assessment Documents appropriate for apprentices, to support the practice supervisors with monitoring the apprentice progress and appropriate reviews.
  • To be the link facilitator for defined localities / or where the cohort of apprentice students are working
  • Deliver clinical skills training to meet the NCH&C's Clinical Competency framework to both new and existing apprentice staff, and other clinical staff.
  • Be accountable for supporting new staff in practice to achieve sign off and competence of clinical skills
  • Provide support and advice to teams on the roles of new staff ensuring patient allocation to meet competency practice
  • Provide support and supervision to new staff
  • Implement the CLIP model (create a Learning environment in practice) through a coaching support model
  • Meet with academic mentors to ensure apprentices and trainees are meeting relevant professional and academic standards
  • Capture feedback from trainees and ensure any teething issues are rectified
  • Support any apprentice or student who maybe struggling, linking with NCH&C apprentice lead
  • Link with named localities to provide drop in support sessions and extra clinical sessions to support the apprentices and students in practice.
  • Support development of mentorship and supervision required for effective delivery of the workforce Plan.
  • Ensure all new apprentices acquire the Care Certificate and are supported through the programme
  • To provide staff with appropriate information, advice and guidance relating to the learning opportunities provided within the Trust
  • To assist in evaluations to inform the provision of future appropriate education and learning programmes.
  • To receive and appropriately log any issues or concerns raised by staff and help to ensure that these are resolved effectively and within an appropriate timeframe
  • To prepare accurate and precise reports, both verbal and written
  • To base training on relevant national and local information, policies, and guidelines with research based practice.
  • Make appropriate use of resources as necessary to fulfil the job objectives
  • To maintain personal standards of conduct and behaviour consistent with NMC professional guidelines
  • To develop protocols, competencies and Standard operating procedures which support the clinical effectiveness of staff.
  • To provide support with the other clinical educators for those supervising and mentoring students on pre-registration programmes.
  • To support new models of working with the Trust Education Lead to deliver the workforce Plan.
  • To provide training and support in developing the role of the mentor/practice educator through cascade training and mentorship skills development.
  • To work with HEI's and other key training personnel in contributing to the audit and smooth working of training programmes.
