Position:


Programme Management


The Alan Turing Institute has ten Programmes of scientific research in key areas of AI and data science, each led by a Programme Director.

There are also a small number of significant programmes of activity which sit across several research Programmes.


This role sits within the Institute's
Programme Management Directorate, which is responsible for the management and delivery of these programmes in support of the senior academic Programme Directors.

The team oversees millions of pounds of data science and AI research, training and knowledge exchange programme initiatives in these programmes, ensuring they are managed to business requirements, specification, time and budget.


There are a number of Programme and Research Project Managers within the team, usually focussed on one research Programme or programme of activity, but who may provide programme and project management capabilities and support to other projects or activities from time to time as required.

Programme managers and Research project managers are not permanently attached to programmes and may be moved to other research programmes in-line with business needs, and may have the opportunity to support other programmes, both ad-hoc or more formally.


Finance and economics programme

Finance and economics programme brings together leading experts in data science, machine learning, finance and the social sciences, from both academia and industry to tackle the most challenging questions by producing world-leading research with significant impact. The programme works closely with government and the industry to exploit the potential of new technologies in the financial sector and economic research, and to position the UK as the leader in these areas. The programme is led by the Programme Director, Lukasz Szpruch.


ROLE PURPOSE


The project administrator will help to ensure the smooth set up, delivery and daily management of the
Trustworthy Digital Infrastructure for Identity Systems (TDI) project, as well as assist as required across the wider Finance and economics (F&E) programme portfolio.


The post holder will perform general programme administrative duties, and provide administrative services for relevant meetings, visits, workshops and other events and engagement activity.

This may include activities that enable the effective stewardship of attendees such as effective minute taking and acting as the contact point for the project and programme teams as required.

The post holder will also support the efficient set up, delivery and closure of project activity including keeping records up to date, supporting the on-boarding of new team members and supporting the collation and delivery of project reports.

The role will also undertake more independent project administration tasks that include liaison with internal and external contacts, project and programme records management, assistance with recruitment tasks, coordination of the Trustworthy Digital Identity Interest Group, as well as assistance with the broader portfolio of events,


DUTIES AND AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY

  • Provide support to the TDI Research Project Manager and broader F&E team, by coordinating project and programme meetings, events and engagement activity including, communication to attendees, taking minutes and booking rooms / catering, as required.
  • Ensure that TDI risk, issues and lessons logs, as well as database records are maintained to a high standard, kept up to date and managed effectively.
  • Support the administrative setup, delivery and closure of research projects within TDI and across F&E including providing administrative support for recruitment and onboarding activity.
  • Support the TDI Research Project Manager in management and planning of engagement for the Trustworthy Digital Identity Interest Group and coordinating membership.
  • Support the development of internal and external project and programme progress reports.
  • Perform financial administration, including raising purchase orders, invoice tracking, and working with the Finance team as required.

  • Demonstrable administrative experience in a fastpaced office environment.
  • Excellent written, verbal and listening skills with the ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of people.
  • Strong problemsolver and evidence of taking initiative.
  • Ability to balance competing priorities whilst maintaining a high standard of accuracy and attention to detail.
