As Tropic continues to evolve, we are looking for a confident, innovative, results-driven, and commercially savvy
Head of Operations to help to shape and drive transformation across our busy Operations division.


You will take full ownership of monitoring, maintaining, and increasing the efficiency of the business from an operational point of view.

Reporting to the Managing Director, this critical leadership role will require you to leverage your operational experience of working within complex, fast-paced, high-SKU (stock-keeping unit) environments and managing direct reports across various in-house departments, including Manufacturing, Maintenance, and Engineering, Production, Warehouse, Weighing, Supply Chain and Dispatch.


Your aim will be to ensure a streamlined production of goods and services, analyse and improve organisational processes and continue to create an excellent place for people to work through empowering, coaching, and team development.

*Responsibilities will include (but not limited to)

  • Oversee and manage a team of departmental direct reports from Manufacturing, Engineering, Production, Warehouse, Weighing, Supply Chain, and Dispatch.
  • Increase the efficiency of operational processes and software.
  • Promote high company morale and communicate operating policies, customer issues, and safety measures.
  • Design policies and i mplement efficient processes and standards.
  • Perform financial predictions by preparing annual budgets, scheduling expenditures, analysing variance, and initiating corrective actions.
  • Review and approve operational invoices.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant local and international laws and regulations.
  • Provide leadership and s upport and upskill the team through a mixture of strategies including coaching, training, and team development.
  • Drive manufacturing efficiencies and a continuous improvement in the culture, e.g. drive productivity (cost per unit), inventory reduction, and reduce waste costs across all area s.
  • Manage the Health and Safety Committee and work with the People & Culture team on all teams ' developments, including recruitment, training management, and disciplinaries.
  • Be the Health and Safety lead for all departments, ensuring that Tropic's Health and Safety culture onsite is maintained to the highest standard at all times.
*About You

  • A demonstrable senior Operations background is essential.
  • An extensive operations background from one or a combination of the following industries : skincare, beauty, cosmetics, personal care manufacturing, or food production is essential.
  • Wellversed in worldclass manufacturing and able to develop and implement effective LEAN continuous improvement activities.
  • Project management skills and knowledge of methodologies such as Agile, Lean, and Six Sigma.
  • Strong organisational, leadership, coaching, and influencing skills.
  • The ability to lead, drive and implement substantial change while ensuring daily operational standards are maintained.
  • A passionate, communicative leader, with a track record of driving performance through coaching, development, and training.
  • Strong commercial awareness with an intuitive mindset.
  • The ability to work crossfunctionally with other departments to drive business performance.
  • Strong knowledge of all Microsoft Office program me s.
  • Health and Safety certification is desirable.

  • Full time: 9am 5pm, Monday to Friday.
  • The office is conveniently located just a 3minute walk from Beddington Lane Tram stop, which is connected to East Croydon and Wimbledon both 20 minutes away. Approx minutes travel time from South / South West London.
  • Onsite parking is available.
  • 25 days annual leave plus other fantastic perks.
  • Starting salary: £80,000 per annum, depending on experience.
  • Position is available immediately.
